December 23, 2020: Happy Holidays & Holiday Break COVID-19 Protocols
As we head into the holiday break, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for your support throughout an unprecedented 2020. This year has certainly been challenging for all of us, but through those challenges, our Spring Grove community has stood by each other, helped one another, and remained strong. I could not be more proud of our Rocket community, and my wish for all of you is for a peaceful holiday season as well as a hopeful and prosperous new year.
As a friendly reminder, the District holiday break begins tomorrow, Thursday, December 24th through Friday, January 1st. Normal school operations will resume on Monday, January 4, 2021. District offices will be closed to the public during this time. Below, we have provided answers to a couple of common questions regarding the holiday break and COVID-19 protocols.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY CHILD TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 DURING THE HOLIDAY BREAK?
During the holiday break, if your child tests positive for COVID-19, please send an email to email@example.com to inform us. In the email, please provide:
- Your child’s name
- School building and grade level
- Attach a copy of your child’s positive COVID-19 test result
- Date of first sign of symptoms
- If appropriate, last date your child was present for in-school instruction
- Best method to contact you
We will respond to your email in a timely manner; however, please be mindful that District offices will be closed on December 24th and 25th for the Christmas holiday and December 31st and January 1st for the New Year holiday.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY CHILD IS IDENTIFIED AS A CLOSE CONTACT DURING THE HOLIDAY BREAK?
If your child(ren) is/are identified as a close contact (close contact is defined as being within six feet of a COVID-19 positive person for a period of 15 minutes or more within a 24-hour period, cumulative or consecutive), please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to inform us. This may impact your child(ren)’s return to school on January 4th. In the email, please provide your child’s name, school building and grade level, and the best method to contact you.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY FAMILY/CHILD TRAVELS OUT OF STATE DURING THE HOLIDAY BREAK?
Please be attentive to the PA Department of Health Travel Order. In order for a student to return to in-person Traditional Learning after traveling out of state, proof of a negative COVID-19 test must be provided to your child's school prior to his/her return to in-school instruction. (*Students under the age of 12 are not required to travel quarantine or produce a negative test result upon their return to the commonwealth.) If a negative COVID-19 test cannot be provided, the student must follow the travel quarantine guidelines as stated on the PA Department of Health website linked above. During the travel quarantine time, your child will be able to participate in Virtual Learning at Home.
To simplify the process for families to submit the appropriate documentation when traveling out of state, a form is available to download HERE. Once completed, families should submit the form electronically to the District Attendance Officer or the Building Principal.
Again, thank you for your confidence in the Spring Grove Area School District. We succeed together because we work together for the benefit of our students, your children, who are the future of our community. We look forward to the new year and continuing to move forward, together.
