September 4, 2020: USDA Free School Meal Program Extended

Dear Rocket Families,

The USDA recognizes that many families are still struggling with the economic effects of COVID-19. As a result, the USDA has extended school meal waivers tentatively through December 2020, allowing school districts to serve free breakfast and lunch meals to all children, regardless of a family's economic status. All children, age 18 years old and under, that reside in the Spring Grove Area School District are eligible to receive the free school meals at the District.

Free school meals will begin Wednesday, September 9th, 2020 for the Spring Grove Area School District.

In-School Student Meals

All SGASD students in the traditional in-person school setting will be able to receive a free breakfast and lunch each school day at their school building during normal meal times.

Middle and High School students will still have the ability to purchase a-la-carte options that are normally available to them in addition to the free school meal.

Drive-Thru To-Go Meals

Distance Learning and SGFlex students, as well as non-school age children, are able to receive free meals via one of our three drive-thru locations on Mondays and Wednesdays, when school is in session.

The meals will be bundled to ensure that breakfast and lunch are offered for each instructional day. To help the service process, please have your child(ren)'s PIN number(s) available when picking up meals.

Please visit the District’s Nutrition Services Free School Meal Program webpage for important information and more details regarding the Drive-Thru To-Go process.
