January 8, 2021: All Parents - Two Confirmed Cases at NSE & One Confirmed Case at High School

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Today, January 8, 2021, the District was informed of one confirmed COVID case at the High School and two confirmed cases at New Salem Elementary. Yesterday’s reported case at the Intermediate School was removed from the dashboard as instructed by the PA Department of Health due to a reporting inconsistency. Two of the three positive cases do not have reportable close contacts. The District’s in-person Traditional Learning at all of the District educational buildings will remain open at this time.

As a reminder, please continue to closely monitor your child’s health and seek medical attention if any symptoms arise that are new and/or not explained by another reason, such as:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

If your child is exhibiting symptoms or is in the process of being tested for COVID-19, please keep him/her home and inform us immediately by contacting the building principal or the school nurse. For more information on COVID-19, please visit the CDC’s website at cdc.gov.

We will continue to communicate updates as appropriate.

Sincerely,

Dr. George W. Ioannidis
Superintendent
