December 18, 2020: All Parents - One Confirmed Case Each at SGE, Middle School, High School, & Other

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Since yesterday, December 17, 2020, the District has been informed of one confirmed case of COVID-19 at Spring Grove Elementary, one confirmed case at the Middle School, one confirmed case at the High School, and one confirmed case in the “other” category as noted on the COVID-19 dashboard. Two of the four cases have no reportable contacts. The District’s in-person Traditional Learning at all of the District educational buildings will remain open at this time.

The District is in the process of contacting any persons who meet the definition of exposure (considered “close contacts”) while in our buildings and directing them to follow appropriate quarantine guidelines. The Department of Health may follow up with those individuals (or others) who are considered close contacts (the definition of exposure/close contact is a person who was within six feet of the person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) and advise them to self-quarantine, accordingly. Unless you are contacted directly by the District or the PADoH concerning quarantining, there is nothing more you need to do at this time.

As a reminder, please continue to closely monitor your child’s health and seek medical attention if any symptoms arise that are new and/or not explained by another reason, such as:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

If your child is exhibiting symptoms or is in the process of being tested for COVID-19, please keep him/her home and inform us immediately by contacting the building principal or the school nurse. For more information on COVID-19, please visit the CDC’s website at cdc.gov.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We will continue to communicate updates as appropriate.

Sincerely,

Dr. George W. Ioannidis
Superintendent
