SGI 6th Graders Participate in Cultural Day
Spring Grove Area Intermediate (SGI) 6th graders participated in Cultural Day on Thursday, March 31st. The SGI Cultural Day not only gave students a chance to celebrate other cultures but also gave them a taste of the larger Diversity Festival event that will occur on April 13th at Spring Grove Area High School from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM.
Each 6th-grade student received a "passport" that was stamped as they traveled to the four presentation destinations, which included the following cultures: Sudanese, Greek, Italian, and Puerto Rican. The presenters shared their culture with the students and answered questions. After the presentations, students had the opportunity to sample a variety of food from the cultures they learned about during the day and more. It was fabulous to see the students engaged in the presentations, asking questions, and their openness to trying different foods.
The SGI Cultural Day would not have been possible without help from the presenters, local restaurants, families, volunteers, and sponsors. We greatly appreciate your support of the event!
