The Spring Grove Area Middle School (SGAMS) will be competing in the Odyssey of the Mind competition for the first time this year! SGAMS teacher, Ms. Sherry Stambaugh, leads this student program and applied for a grant to fund it. Her grant submission to the Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools (PARSS) was successful and they received $1,465 which allows them to enter the South Central PA competition.

Odyssey of the Mind teaches students how to develop and use their natural creativity to become problem-solvers. Odyssey of the Mind brings the classroom to life as students apply what they learn and combine it with their interests and passions to solve unique open-ended problems. Odyssey of the Mind also emphasizes teamwork, budgeting, time management, public speaking, and so much more. There are five problems in the competition with a team of seven students and an adult coach for each one.

Thank you PARSS for awarding SGAMS the grant to compete in this unique experience! Good luck, Rockets!
