Four Spring Grove Rocketry Teams Advance to the National Team America Rocketry Challenge
Spring Grove Area School District has four teams advancing to the national Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC), the world’s largest rocket contest! The contest gives middle and high school students the opportunity to design, build, and launch model rockets and get hands-on experience solving engineering problems. 615 teams competed in this year’s competition, but only 100 earned a place in the National Finals and a chance to be crowned National Champion.
The breakdown of the four Spring Grove teams that will compete on June 12, 2021, with a flight window of 12:30 - 3:30 PM is as follows:
High School Team 5982 - Captain Dylan Tichy, William Hill, Finley Ritenour, Haley Hake
High School Team 7009 - Captain Nate Hamme, Nathaniel Alexander, Chase Wentz, Quentin Walker
Middle School Team 5986 - Captain Alyssa Beyer, Hailey Graff, Grace Rinehart, Madison Hudak
Middle School Team 5989 - Captain Hans Livelsberger, Delaney Harvison, Oliver Rumbaugh
For two of the four Spring Grove teams, this will be their first time competing at TARC Nationals. This year, the competition challenge entails teams having to launch a rocket containing a large chicken egg to 800 feet and back down in 40 – 43 seconds.
