SGASD Celebrates Read Across America

Thing 1 and Thing 2 from David Ross Orthodontics reading the Cat and the Hat

On February 28th, Thing 1 and Thing 2 from David Ross Orthodontics visited SGE for a reading of The Cat in the Hat in celebration of "Read Across America."

NEA's "Read Across America" is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2nd - the birthday of beloved children's author, Dr. Seuss. With March 2nd falling on a Saturday this year, each of the elementary schools was able to plan activities to celebrate the occassion over the course of the two weeks leading up to and following the designated day.

SGASD participates in the nationwide event in support of the principle that motivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement and creating lifelong, successful readers. Research has shown that children who are motivated and spend more time reading do better in school, as well.
