Spring Grove Student Ranked Ninth Place in Fall 2018 Stock Market Challenge Competition

Spring Grove Area High School student, Bryce Thoman, ranked Ninth place in the High school division for the Pennsylvania Council on Literacy’s Fall 2018 Stock Market Challenge competition. Bryce started with $100,000 on October 8th and ended the 10- week game with $115,825.02. He worked under the guidance of teacher, Nicole Riser.

She shared, “I am so grateful to PACFL for providing this experience to my students. I use it as an integral piece of the Business 1 course, as students are able to learn while actually applying their new knowledge and skills. Bryce was inquisitive and highly motivated throughout the competition and the course. He put a great deal of thought into his investments, and I’m so proud of what he was able to do!”

Pennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy (PennCFL) proudly sponsors this program. The mission is to provide Pennsylvania’s K-12 students with economic, personal finance, and entrepreneurship skills that elevate their standard of living, quality of life, and professional success. PennCFL sponsors financial games and programs with the participation of thousands of students, in 38 counties in the state, including many local schools.
