SGASD Unveils the Pete & Linda Tate Family Music & Theater Department
It was with great enthusiasm that Spring Grove Area School District (SGASD) and the Spring Grove Area Educational Fund, Inc. (SGAEF) unveiled the naming of the “Pete and Linda Tate Family Music and Theater Department.” The unveiling presentation occurred at the High School’s fall play, Miracle on 34th Street, on November 17, 2018.
Pete and Linda Tate have been highly involved in SGASD since they moved to the area in 1970. Their sons, Bryan and David Tate, began school in the District in the early 1970’s. "When we moved to York County, we didn't know anybody. When our boys were born, we chose to move to Seven Valleys and the Spring Grove Area School District," said Linda Tate. "Our first friends here were the parents of our boys' classmates, and for many years all of our family time revolved around church and Spring Grove activities. Our family owes so much to Spring Grove, and now Pete and I are saying thank you through our wills. We hope others consider creating their legacy here, too."
For their 50th wedding anniversary in 2017, Pete and Linda Tate updated their wills to include a future estate gift to create a $75,000 endowed fund at the York County Community Foundation named the “Pete and Linda Tate Fund for Children and Youth” that will annually award an unrestricted grant to the Spring Grove Area Educational Fund, Inc. This gift benefitting SGASD will create the “Pete and Linda Tate Family Music and Theater Department” at the Spring Grove Area High School. Because of the generosity of their sons, who will make annual gifts while their parents are living, the space at the High School can be named now so the Tates can see their legacy during their lifetime.
"Our parents are regular people who worked hard all their lives. In their spare time, they supported David and me and our activities, and they also invested their time in other children and youth in our community," said Bryan Tate, the elder son of donors Pete and Linda Tate. "Pete and Linda Tate are role models for us and for all the children who've benefitted from their fine example. And now, the future children and youth of Spring Grove will forever benefit from mom and dad's financial investment, mom and dad's legacy."
SGASD and the Spring Grove Area Educational Fund are elated that Pete and Linda Tate have given this generous gift through the endowed fund to the Spring Grove Area Educational Fund, which will benefit students for years to come.
