SGASD Launches Search for Next Superintendent
Spring Grove Area School District Superintendent, Dr. David Renaut, has announced that he will be retiring after the 2018-2019 school year. The Spring Grove Area School District Board of School Directors approved Dr. Renaut’s resignation at the September 24, 2018, Board meeting. His retirement will be effective July 1, 2019.
“I have enjoyed my 18 years in Spring Grove and am extremely proud of the many ways in which the District has moved forward in so many aspects of education,” said Dr. Renaut. “I have been very fortunate to be a part of an unbelievable staff with passion and dedication to our district and students. It has been my pleasure and honor to work alongside such outstanding people.”
Dr. Renaut has a total of thirty-nine years serving in public education. He previously served as the assistant superintendent of the District in November 2007. He began his tenure at SGASD as principal of New Salem Elementary School in 2001.
Prior to his arrival at SGASD, Dr. Renaut worked in the Carroll County Public School District and the Southern York County School District. During his career, he also taught fifth and sixth-grade social studies, served as an assistant middle school principal, assistant elementary school principal, and elementary principal. Additionally, Dr. Renaut conducted college courses in elementary education as an adjunct professor at York College of Pennsylvania for approximately eight years.
Ms. Cindy Huber, Board President stated, “Dr. Renaut has been one of the most respected and successful superintendents I’ve had the opportunity to work with. His decisions always focus on providing the best possible educational opportunities for every student. Because of his vision and guidance, our district has a strong, secure financial base and has a trusting community working toward the common goal of what’s best for our children. The Board sincerely appreciates his dedication to our district; his leadership and passion will truly be missed.”
Dr. Renaut will continue to lead the District through the current school year, stating: “I look forward to a fantastic school year as we focus on each student’s success and continue to champion the great things occurring in our district.”
