December 22, 2021: Happy Holidays & COVID-19 Protocol During Holiday Break

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As we enter the holiday break, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for your partnership and encouragement through this school year. I am humbled and grateful by how our Spring Grove community continues to support each other in many ways, as is evident in our recent Fill the Bus and Take Down Cancer campaigns. My wish for all of you is for a peaceful and joyous holiday season as well as a hopeful and prosperous new year.

As a friendly reminder, the district holiday break begins tomorrow, Thursday, December 23 through Friday, December 31. Normal school operations will resume on Monday, January 3, 2022. All District offices will be closed to the public during this time.

Please be aware the District has recently experienced a significant rise in positive COVID-19 cases. As you know, our goal is to keep our school doors open for learning. We encourage everyone to remain mindful of hygiene and health safety protocols during the holiday break so that we may welcome everyone back to in-person learning on January 3.

To assist with planning for our students’ return to the classroom in 2022, we are providing (below) recommended protocol to follow during the holiday break regarding COVID-19.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY CHILD TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 DURING THE HOLIDAY BREAK?

During the holiday break, if your child tests positive for COVID-19, please send an email to info@sgasd.org to inform us. In the email, please provide:

  • Your child’s name
  • School building and grade level
  • Attach a copy of your child’s positive COVID-19 test result
  • Date of first sign of symptoms
  • If appropriate, the last date your child was present for in-school instruction

It is not our intention to reach out to you from this email account over the holiday break. Rather, your communication will be helpful as, internally, we track the number of positive cases at our building levels to determine any course of action that may be warranted as we look to return to in-person learning on January 3.

Again, thank you for your confidence in the Spring Grove Area School District. We succeed together because we work together for the benefit of our students, your children, who are the future of our community. We look forward to the new year and to continuing to move forward, together.

Sincerely,

Dr. George W. Ioannidis
Superintendent
