June 3, 2021: District Summer Operations Update

Dear Rocket Families,

We hope that your student’s summer break is off to a great start. I have a few brief updates and reminders for you regarding summer district operations. Please note, these updates apply only to our summer programs and operations.

FACE COVERINGS UPDATE FOR SUMMER PROGRAMS & OPERATIONS
In accordance with the May 31st updated PA Department of Health guidelines, individuals who have been fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear a face covering while at the District. In general, people are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

For their health and safety, and in accordance with the state guidelines, those individuals who have NOT been fully vaccinated, including staff and students, participating in District summer programs and operations, will still be required to wear a face covering while in a District building until the PA Department of Health Face-Covering Order has been lifted. Students being transported on District vehicles will also be required to wear a face covering until the Order has been lifted.

On June 28th, or before if 70% of adult Pennsylvanians are fully vaccinated, the PA Department of Health plans to lift its Face-Covering Order. At that time, staff and students participating in summer programs and operations will no longer be required to wear a face covering or practice physical distancing, unless the PA Departments of Health or Education institute new requirements.

Spring Grove Area School District will maintain its current cleaning protocols and continue its increased ventilation and air purification measures.

SUMMER MEALS
Beginning June 7, 2021, all children, age 18 years old and under, that reside in the Spring Grove Area School District are eligible to receive free meals at the District on Monday and Wednesday through the USDA summer meal program. For the pick-up location, times, and most up-to-date information on summer school meals, please visit the Nutrition Services webpage HERE

SUMMER DISTRICT OFFICE OPERATIONS
Please note, the District has begun to operate on summer hours. Beginning this week through August 6, 2021, district and school offices will be open Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. The offices will be closed on Fridays.

HOT SPOTS AND IPADS
If you are still in possession of a district-owned iPad or hot spot, please return the item(s) as soon as possible to your child’s school building during the summer hours of operation noted above.
I wish you and your children a fun and restful summer break. We look forward to seeing everyone again in August!

Sincerely,

Dr. George W. Ioannidis
