SGFlex Grades 7-12
Students in grades 7 - 12 will work through a district-provided curriculum through our online education partner, Imagine Edgenuity. While many of our in-person elective courses are not offered through SGFlex, parents/guardians can discuss with their child's building principal the opportunity to participate in those courses in the traditional in-person environment.
Learning Expectations
Students and their parents/guardians can expect the following:
- Instruction will be completed independently online following daily pacing goals.
- Each class will have a teacher assigned to monitor progress, grade assignments, and provide feedback.
- Students at the secondary level are expected to work independently with minimal parental oversight. However, each child's learning needs are unique. We encourage parents/guardians to check in and provide support as needed to ensure a successful learning experience for their child.
Attendance and Participation
- Daily attendance is based on pacing and time-on-task.
- Continued enrollment is based on assignment completion and academic performance.
School Calendar and Submitting Absences
State law requires that students attend school for 180 days per year. In compliance with this law, the SGFlex Program will follow the Spring Grove Area School District’s Calendar. By its nature, SGFlex provides a unique amount of academic flexibility, yet it must adhere to Board Policy 204 (Attendance).
Parents/Guardians are responsible for providing an excuse “note” to verify a reason for any absence within 3 days of the absence period. Student absence excuse forms must be completed and submitted via the Sapphire Community Web Portal.
Courses
SGFlex courses are taught through Imagine Edgenuity with oversight from a Spring Grove Area School District teacher. View a preview of the Edgenuity courseware.
