How to Register for Swim Lessons

Fall Swim Lessons

  • Description of Classes:

    Parent / Tot 
    6 months - 3 years, in the water with a parent.

    Preschool Level 2 and 3
    3 years old - Kindergarten students.

    School Age Level 1

    Kindergarten and older. Needs assistance jumping in the water and going undear completely. Cannot float unassisted.

    School Age Level 2
    Kindergarten and older. Can float unassisted, jump in and completely submerge underwater, can float unassisted.

    School Age Level 3
    Kindergarten and older. Can swim on front working on rhythmic breathing, swim on back 1/2 the width of the pool, and jump in water over their head.

    School Age Level 4 and 5
    Kindergarten and older. Knows front crawl with rhythmic breathing and backstroke. Ready to build endurance and learn
    breaststroke and butterfly stroke.

Pool Rules

    • Wear proper swimming suits. No street clothing.
    • Shower before entering the pool.
    • Obey the lifeguard at all times.
    • Children 10 years and younger must be supervised by an adult.
    • Non-swimmers and swimmers using flotation devices must be with an adult and remain in the shallow end of the pool at all times.
    • Diving and jumping in designated areas only.
    • No flips or back diving.
    • No running, pushing, or any type of horseplay on the pool deck.
    • Pool toys are allowed in the shallow end of the pool only.
    • No food or drink is allowed in the locker rooms or in the pool area.

Cancellations and Refunds

    • Makeup lessons are not available for missed classes.

    • Refunds are given only if a medical condition limits the ability to participate in the classes in which you are registered.

    • If a lesson is canceled due to pool maintenance or repair, the cancellation will be posted on the District website and on the District Facebook and Twitter pages. 

Skill Levels

  • The SGASD aquatics program follows the American Red Cross guidelines for swimming instructions.

    Preschool Aquatics

    Gives young children about ages 3 - 5 a positive, developmentally appropriate aquatic learning experience that emphasizes water safety, survival, and foundational swimming concepts. Skills are age-appropriate. 

    Learn-to-Swim

    Based on a logical, six-level progression that helps swimmers about 6+ years old and adults develop their water safety, survival, and swimming skills. It is designed to give participants a positive learning experience.
