Spring Swim Lessons

  • Please Note: All swimmers must be kindergarten age and older and able to dress themselves without assistance. Swimmers will be met at the main door by a member of the aquatics staff and escorted to the pool as a class. Parents will meet their child(ren) at the exit doors on the other side of the pool. At this time parents are not allowed in the school building.
     
    Description of Classes:
     
    School Age Level 1
    Kindergarten and older, needs assistance jumping in the water and going u dear completely. Cannot float unassisted.
     
    School Age Level 2
    Kindergarten and older, can float unassisted, jump in and completely submerge underwater, can float unassisted.
     
    School Age Level 3
    Kindergarten and older, can swim on front working on rhythmic breathing, swim on back 1/2 the width of the pool, and jump in water over their head.
     
    School Age Level 4/5
    Kindergarten and older, know front crawl with rhythmic breathing and backstroke. Ready to build endurance and learn breaststroke and butterfly stroke.

Cancellations and Refunds

    • Makeup lessons are not available for missed classes.

    • Refunds are given only if a medical condition limits the ability to participate in the classes in which you are registered.

    • If a lesson is canceled due to pool maintenance or repair, the cancellation will be posted on the District website and on the District Facebook and Twitter pages. 

Pool Rules

    • Wear proper swimming suits. No street clothing.
    • Shower before entering the pool.
    • Obey the lifeguard at all times.
    • Children 10 years and younger must be supervised by an adult.
    • Non-swimmers and swimmers using flotation devices must be with an adult and remain in the shallow end of the pool at all times.
    • Diving and jumping in designated areas only.
    • No flips or back diving.
    • No running, pushing, or any type of horseplay on the pool deck.
    • Pool toys are allowed in the shallow end of the pool only.
    • No food or drink is allowed in the locker rooms or in the pool area.

Skill Levels

  • The SGASD aquatics program follows the American Red Cross guidelines for swimming instructions.

    Preschool Aquatics

    Gives young children about ages 3 - 5 a positive, developmentally appropriate aquatic learning experience that emphasizes water safety, survival, and foundational swimming concepts. Skills are age-appropriate. 

    Learn-to-Swim

    Based on a logical, six-level progression that helps swimmers about 6+ years old and adults develop their water safety, survival, and swimming skills. It is designed to give participants a positive learning experience.
