YAIAA Becomes South Central Athletic Conference

YAIAA Becomes South Central Athletic Conference

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, the York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) will officially become the South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC).

The name change comes following the addition of three new member schools, expanding the conference beyond York and Adams counties and better reflecting its broader regional footprint. The new name was selected through a vote by all current and incoming member schools from a list of student-submitted finalists.

League officials will spend the summer finalizing the conference's new branding and preparing to launch its new website, scacsports.org, before the start of the school year.

This marks the third name change in the league's history as it continues to grow. Originally established as the York County Interscholastic Athletic Association, the league became the York Area Interscholastic Athletic Association in 1992 before adopting the York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) name in 2004 following previous expansions.
