SGI Goes Ancient with Ziggurats
SGI 6th grade Social Studies students have been diving into Ancient Mesopotamia, exploring the fascinating world of ziggurats! These impressive structures were built as temples in each city-state, and our students took on the challenge of designing their very own!
Working in teams, students built a ziggurat using provided materials and created a marble track that ran in or around it. This hands-on project incorporated teamwork, problem-solving, social skills, and even some science!
To make it more exciting, each class included a friendly competition component, where the team that built the longest and most complex design would win for their class. Here are the winners:
- Ms. Catlin's Class: "The Four Friends and a Nerd" - Chris Braley, Anthony Garcia, James Johnson, Nash Harnish, and Lucas Kessler
- Mr. Tanczos' Class: "The Sports" - Dean Sellman, Ethan Dano, and Jayden Fields
- Mrs. Macharola's Class: "The Ziggu-RATS" - Brooklyn Schab, Austin Russell, Liam Dietz, Hailey Neiderer
- Mrs. Whisler's Class: "The Zig-Bros" - Shawn Bobbit, Ayden Johnson, Flynn Ort, Isaac Leppo
Thank you to Mrs. Whisler, Mrs. Macharola, Mr. Tanczos, and Ms. Catlin for a fun lesson the students will surely remember!
