SGI Student Wins First Place in Hershey History Writing Contest
Spring Grove Area Intermediate School sixth grader Delaney Hopkins was named a first-place winner in The Hershey Story’s History Contest for Young Writers. Her essay, titled “Revolutionary Influencer of the Medical Field: Florence Nightingale,” earned top honors in the Junior Science & Health category.
Delaney, a student in Mrs. Angela Saylor’s class, was recognized for her achievement during the annual Business Partners in Education Breakfast held on Thursday, May 1, at the Hershey Lodge. First-place winners received their awards and were celebrated during the program.
The Hershey Story hosts this annual contest to encourage students to explore and share their passion for history through creative and well-organized writing. Delaney’s essay stood out for its thoughtful exploration of Florence Nightingale’s impact on the medical field.
