SGI Envirothon Teams Earn Top Honors

SGI Envirothon Teams Earn Top Honors

Students from Spring Grove Area Intermediate School earned top honors at this year’s York County Envirothon competition, competing against 47 teams from across the county.

The school’s 6th-grade team, the Spring Grove Salamander Squad, earned 1st place in the Aquatics category and was named the overall competition champion.

SGI’s 5th-grade team, the Spring Grove Deciduous Deciders, also had a strong showing, earning 2nd place in Current Issues (Survival Skills) and finishing 7th overall.

As the overall winner, SGI will receive the Envirothon Championship Banner to display in the building until next year’s competition.

The Envirothon competition challenges students in areas including aquatics, forestry, soils and land use, wildlife, and current environmental issues. Students work together to apply their knowledge, critical thinking, and teamwork skills through hands-on environmental learning experiences.

Thank you to advisors Mrs. Catlin and Mr. Tanczos for their leadership, guidance, and support throughout the competition season.

Congratulations to these students on an outstanding accomplishment and for representing Rocket Nation with pride.
