NSE Breaks Fundraising Record for the American Heart Association

Students and staff at New Salem Elementary recently wrapped up an incredible fundraising effort for the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge, raising a record-breaking $13,308.70—the most ever raised by NSE during this annual event.

To celebrate this outstanding accomplishment, the school honored a fun and memorable student incentive: their P.E. teacher, Ms. Colucci, was duct-taped to the wall! Students from each classroom took turns coming to the hallway every five minutes to place a strip of tape over their teacher. Once all students had participated, Ms. Colucci remained taped to the wall until dismissal time, much to the delight of the cheering students and staff.

The Kids Heart Challenge promotes heart-healthy habits while encouraging students to give back to their community. New Salem’s achievement not only highlights the generosity and enthusiasm of the school community but also sets a new standard for future fundraising efforts.

Congratulations to all of the students, staff, and families who helped make this year’s event such a resounding success!
