Mr. Tyler Newcomb Honored with the 2026 Excellence in Education Teacher Award

At the start of the new school year, Spring Grove Area High School teacher Mr. Tyler Newcomb added his name to the Senior Class Award for Excellence in Education plaque at SGAHS, marking his selection by the Class of 2026 for the annual honor.

The Senior Class Award for Excellence in Education recognizes a classroom teacher who has made a lasting impact on students and exemplifies excellence in education. Established in 2022 by the senior class officers, the award is presented each year to a teacher selected by the graduating class through a confidential ballot.

Mr. Newcomb was announced as the 2026 recipient during the SGAHS Commencement Ceremony in May.

During the ceremony, students shared that Mr. Newcomb creates a classroom where they feel supported, included, and motivated to succeed.

“Students describe this teacher as someone who brings genuine passion and excitement to learning and is always willing to help them understand difficult concepts or catch up when needed.”

He was also recognized for creating a safe and welcoming classroom through his humor, positivity, and compassion, while encouraging students to believe in themselves and strive for their best.
