About the Rocket Wellness Center

Spring Grove Area School District staff and substitutes have access to the district's dedicated health center, with a primary care provider who takes the time to get to know you, all for little to no cost.

Who Has Access

The following SGASD staff can use the Rocket Wellness Center:

Full-time employees, their dependents, and spouses
Part-time employees
Substitutes

Note: Individuals with state or federal health coverage as their primary insurance are not eligible. See exceptions for details.

Individuals with Medicare, Medicaid, or TRICARE as their primary insurance are not eligible to receive services at the Rocket Wellness Center. Federal and state regulations require those programs to be billed first, and Marathon Health and the Rocket Wellness Center do not bill insurance.

Members with Medicare as a secondary payer (while meeting all other eligibility requirements) may be eligible to receive services at the Rocket Wellness Center.

How to Schedule an Appointment

Visits to the Rocket Wellness Center are by appointment only. Drop-in visits are discouraged to ensure each patient is attended to promptly.

Copay Costs

Who has a Copay for Non-Preventive Visits?

Non-preventive visits to the Rocket Wellness Center have a $20 copay for the following, as outlined in the chart below:

Employees on the Q-Plan and their spouse/dependents
Benefits-eligible employees who have waived the district health plan and their spouse/dependents
Part-time employees
Substitutes

Those on the PPO plan have a $0 copay for preventive and non-preventive visits.

Understanding Copays: Preventive vs. Non-Preventive Care

Preventive Care

Preventive care is proactive, happens before a problem is identified, and is often part of a regular checkup. Examples of preventive visits include:

Annual physicals
Routine screenings
Vaccinations
Lab work ordered by a Marathon provider or an outside healthcare provider

Non-Preventive Care

Non-preventative care is reactive, responding to a specific symptom, injury, or already-diagnosed condition. Examples of non-preventive care include:

Sick visits (e.g., cold, flu, sinus infection)
Care for minor injuries
Visits for ongoing or chronic conditions (such as asthma or high blood pressure)

Absolutely NOT. The Marathon Health Rocket Wellness Center providers are bound by HIPAA law, and your information will not be released to the District.

Benefits of the Rocket Wellness Center

The SGASD Rocket Wellness Center, in partnership with Marathon Health, is a space that offers advanced primary care to meet the physical and mental health needs of district staff and their family members.

Teacher health and wellness affect not only educators as individuals but also the overall well-being of the young minds they educate. Teacher wellness has been related to consistency and steadiness in schools, teaching effectiveness, and student achievement. The Rocket Wellness Center provides an effective means of access to high-quality care, boosts productivity, and benefits recruiting and retention efforts.

Additionally, given the staffing challenges, offering healthcare services and support to typically non-eligible staff will help the district secure part-time and substitute staff by extending access to the Center. Through this program, we expect a greater commitment from temporary staff to serve our needs by making them eligible for health services at the Center.

More recently, the prospect of teacher shortages is driving a renewed focus on enhancing employee benefits and experiences for our staff. Our goal is to be an employer of choice in the education sector. The last 2+ years have been stressful for staff. In the past, our strong benefits offering was attractive to our employees, but with salaries around the country rising, coupled with the challenges to access mental and physical healthcare, opening the Rocket Wellness Center will allow us to attract and retain the talent we need, meet our goal of offering superior access to care, and assist us in managing future healthcare cost inflation.

The District was awarded a $50,000 grant from the York County Community Foundation (YCCF) Memorial Health Fund for the Rocket Wellness Center. The Memorial Health Fund Grant seeks to transform how our community addresses compelling health issues by funding programs that improve the overall physical, mental, and social well-being of York County residents.
