The Final Bell: Closing a Chapter and Preserving a Legacy

For more than 135 years, the historic schoolhouse on East College Avenue has been part of the Spring Grove Area School District's story. As the District Administration Office prepares to relocate to its new home, we invite the community to join us in celebrating the legacy of the district's first schoolhouse before it begins its next chapter.

Date: Thursday, July 30, 2026

Time: 1 PM - 3 PM open house; 3 PM - final ringing of the bell by Dr. Kirkpatrick (SGASD Superintendent) and Tracy Crouse (Executive Director of the Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society)

Location: SGASD Educational Service Center, 100 East College Avenue, Spring Grove

Stop by this informal open house to walk through the building one last time, revisit its rich history, and reflect on the generations of students, educators, and staff who have passed through its doors. Representatives from the Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society will be available in the Board Room to share their vision and plans for preserving the building as it transitions into their care.

Light refreshments will be available.

At 3:00 PM, Superintendent Dr. Daphne Kirkpatrick and Tracy Crouse, Executive Director of the Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society, will ring the historic school bell together, marking the close of the building's chapter with the school district and the beginning of its future as a preserved community landmark.

Join us as we honor the past, celebrate the memories, and look ahead to the next chapter in the life of this treasured building.
