SELECTION OF NEW SUPERINTENDENT
The Spring Grove Area School District Board of School Directors is pleased to announce Dr. George W. Ioannidis as the next Superintendent of Spring Grove Area School District. The Board met at the regular voting meeting on Monday, February 25, 2019, and voted to approve the appointment that is effective July 2, 2019.
Dr. Ioannidis has been a valued member of the District for over ten years as the Business Manager and Board Secretary. He has twenty-six years of experience in public school administration. Additionally, Dr. Ioannidis earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership in March of 2019.
Speaking on behalf of the Spring Grove Area School District, Ms. Cindy Huber, Board President, stated that "George Ioannidis stood out among the highly qualified field of candidates for his passion and dedication, as well as his confidence as a leader. The Spring Grove Area School District is very fortunate to have such a strong leadership team in place, which enabled us to take this opportunity to promote from within. With the support of our entire school community, the Board of School Directors looks forward to working with George who will provide the vision, enthusiasm, and dedication to offer the best learning opportunities to the students of Spring Grove Area School District."

The Board of School Directors initiated the search for a new Superintendent after Dr. David Renaut, current Spring Grove Area School District Superintendent, communicated his decision to retire after the end of the 2018-19 school year. The Board performed an extensive search process that included multiple interviews, tours of the district, staff and community forums, as well as gathering input from district stakeholders. The collaborative process that included students, staff, parents, and community members was crucial in helping to reach a decision, and the Board is truly grateful for their participation.
Biography - Dr. George W. Ioannidis
On behalf of the Spring Grove Area School District Board of School Directors, the District is pleased to announce the recommendation of Mr. George W. Ioannidis for the position of Superintendent. The Board is scheduled to vote on the appointment of Mr. Ioannidis on Monday, February 25, 2019, at 7:00 PM at the Educational Service Center during its regular voting meeting.
Mr. Ioannidis is currently the Business Manager and Board Secretary of the Spring Grove Area School District, a position he has held since 2009. He started his career in public school administration in 1993 at Donegal School District, taking his experience also to Manheim Central and Harrisburg School Districts. Prior to beginning his service in education, Mr. Ioannidis worked as an acquisition manager for the U.S. Department of the Navy in Washington, DC, and as a project manager for Ferranti International, a multi-national defense firm based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Mr. Ioannidis expects to earn his Doctorate in Educational Leadership in March of 2019 through a program offered jointly by Shippensburg and Millersville Universities.
The Board of School Directors has put forth the recommendation after performing a thorough search process that included district tours, extensive interviews, meet and greet forums with staff, students, and community members, and gathering feedback from district stakeholders. The Board is very grateful for all of the input from staff, students, parents, and the community. The information received throughout the Superintendent search from the aforementioned stakeholders was fully considered by the Board. The collaborative process was invaluable in helping to reach a decision.

The Board of School Directors selected three candidates to spend a day in the District and engage with staff, parents, students, and community members at the Meet the Finalist Forums. The SGASD community’s participation throughout the Superintendent search has been truly appreciated.
If you were unable to attend a forum, there is still an opportunity to participate in the process. Videos of the Meet the Finalist Forums and the feedback forms have been made available to the SGASD community.

FIRST-ROUND INTERVIEW RESULTS
In early January, the Board of School Directors interviewed five candidates for the Superintendent position. After careful consideration, the School Board has narrowed the search to three finalists.

Parents, students, and community members are invited and highly encouraged to participate in the Meet the Finalists Forums.
Meet the Finalists Forums are scheduled for January 16, 17, and 22, 2019 at 6:00 PM. The Forums will take place at the Middle School in the auditorium.
COLLECTION OF SUPERINTENDENT QUESTIONS
Meet the Finalists Forums will occur the week of January 14, 2019. Your participation is greatly valued. If you would like to submit a question to be asked on your behalf, please kindly click on the form linked below to submit your question. Access to the submission form will close on January 9, 2019.

STAFF SURVEY RESULTS - SUPERINTENDENT AREAS OF FOCUS
In October, the Superintendent Areas of Focus electronic survey was sent to all district staff to gather input on areas of focus and qualities staff feel are most important for the next Superintendent of the Spring Grove Area School District. The valuable data collected has been shared with the Board of School Directors to screen candidates, develop interview questions, and select finalists.
Staff used the areas of focus from the Superintendent job description and annual performance review and ranked them from most important to least important. Overall, the survey results reflected that staff placed the highest value on the following:
- Approachability and visibility
- Community engagement
- Staff development
- District operations
The Board of School Directors greatly appreciates the staff's feedback and time in completing the survey.
CANDIDATE SCREENING RESULTS
The Board of School Directors has screened the submitted applications for Superintendent and has selected five individuals for first-round interviews. The first-round interviews will take place at the High School in early January 2019.
The Spring Grove Area School District Board of School Directors announces its search for an accomplished leader with proven success to serve as its next Superintendent. The anticipated appointment is to begin on or about July 2, 2019.
Applications will be accepted until November 18, 2018.
