• Hello there!

Nice to meet you! I'm Mrs. Greene

My name is Renae Greene and I am the elementary art teacher for Spring Grove Area School District. I currently serve all three elementary schools, Paradise, New Salem, and Spring Grove throughout the six-day rotation cycle of specials. I live in Gettysburg with my husband Walt, our son Wilder, and our rescued corgi-mix named Shortstuff!

When I graduated high school, my parents handed me a letter that my kindergarten self had written to the future me. Kudos to my parents for keeping it safe for 12 years! The letter read, "I am Renae. I want to go to college. I want to be an art teacher." Heading off to art school after reading that letter felt like the most perfect affirmation! I have always been extremely passionate about art and it was the driving force for me throughout my schooling. During my high school years, I worked at a day camp for elementary aged children every summer. It was then that I realized I could combine my two passions: art and children, in the field of art education!

Prior to living in Gettysburg, I was raised in the Poconos, in very northeast Pennsylvania. I completed my undergraduate degree from Marywood University in Scranton, Pa where I majored in Art Education and minored in Art History. Following school, I received my first job with my alum district, Pocono Mountain. A bunch of traveling later and some time teaching out-of-state eventually led my husband and I back to Pennsylvania to be near family. I am super grateful to work for such a wonderful district and alongside such innovative educators at Spring Grove Area School District and I look forward to many years with your children!

Aside from teaching, my husband and I love to travel and combined have visited over 45 states and 12 countries! When I am not in school, I am a working artist. I operate an Etsy shop called Piperjam where I create weavings and handmade woodland stuffed animals. I am also currently finishing my graduate degree with Wilkes University and look forward to holding my diploma this summer!

If you ever have any questions or need to touch base with me, please do not hesitate to email me! My email can be found on the opening welcome page!
