• TITLE IX COMPLIANCE

    The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces, among other statutes, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. Title IX states:

    No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Filing a Title IX Complaint

  • The District has designated the individuals below as the Title IX Coordinator / Compliance Officer to oversee compliance efforts and investigate any complaints of sex discrimination. To file a complaint, please complete and submit the Report Form for Complaints of Discrimination as indicated below.

     
    • For a complaint affecting a student, submit the report form to the Assistant Superintendent.

    • For a complaint affecting a student with a qualified disability, submit the report form to the Director of Pupil Services.

    • For a complaint affecting district staff, submit the report form to the Director of Human Resources.

Title IX Training

  • As part of the compliance with updated requirements, the following training was provided to certain district-level and building-level administrators:


  • "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
     
    Legal Citation:  Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and its implementing regulation at 34 C.F.R. Part 106 (Title IX) 
     
    School systems or other recipients of federal funds must designate at least one professional employee as the Title IX Coordinator / Compliance Officer to oversee compliance efforts and investigate any complaints of sex discrimination.  
     
    School Board Policy #103 designates the Assistant Superintendent as the District's Compliance Officer in matters relating to School and Classroom Practices.
     
    School Board Policy #103.1 designates the Director of Pupil Services as the District's Compliance Officer in matters relating to Qualified Students with Disabilities.
     
    School Board Policy #104 designates the Human Resources Director as the District's Compliance Officer in matters relating to Employment/Contract Practices.
