Superintendent, Dr. David J. Renaut
Dr. Renaut serves as Superintendent of the Spring Grove Area School District. Starting his 39th year in public education, Dr. Renaut had previously served as the Assistant Superintendent of the District since November 2007. Initially, his role as assistant superintendent was focused on kindergarten through sixth grade and was expanded to cover all grades, K-12, in 2011. He first joined the district in 2001 as the principal of New Salem Elementary School.
Following Dr. Renaut's graduation from Shippensburg University in 1980, he began his career as a social studies teacher at Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He later taught fifth grade and sixth grade social studies and served as an assistant middle school principal, assistant elementary school principal, and elementary principal.
Dr. Renaut earned his principal’s certification (K-6 and 7-12) from Shippensburg University. He received his doctoral degree from Immaculata University in March 2013, when he successfully defended his dissertation entitled, Factors Influencing Teacher Attrition: Teachers’ Perceptions.
As Superintendent of Spring Grove Area School District, Dr. Renaut executes and implements the school board's vision by making day-to-day decisions about educational programs, spending, staff, and facilities. He oversees the hiring, supervising, and managerial tasks of the central office staff and principals.
