The Spring Grove High School Social Studies Department believes that students, in order to succeed in today's democratic society, need the knowledge and skills in the areas of geography, history, politics, economics, religions, and the social and cultural aspects of our community, both locally and globally.  Department members also believe in the importance of students acquiring "21st Century skills" in technology along with critical reading and writing skills to compete in a global market.

Department members encourage both individual and group effort as well as collaboration. Therefore, Teachers not only work in their individual classrooms, but also as members of a tightly-knit team.

Encouraging the individuality of our students, we believe:

    • Students are accountable for their actions

    • All students can learn successfully

    • Education is the responsibility of the family, community, and the school

    • Learning occurs throughout a lifetime

    • In recognizing and acknowledging the diversity of our community
