FY 2013-2014 BUDGET PROCESS
Formal work on the FY 2013-14 General Fund Budget started in September with the announcement of the Act 1 Index number by the Department of Education. The presentations made to the Board's Directors' Study Forum (DSF) will be summarized and posted here for review.
The work of the Board and Administration will culminate in the preparation of the budget in the prescribed form (PDE-2028) for preliminary approval in the February 2013 timeframe.
The next few months will include more work to refine the budget's revenue and expenditure totals, leading to adoption in May 2013.
At its January 23, 2013 meeting, the Board approved the Notice to the public that the Preliminary Budget for the 2013-2014 Fiscal Year is available for public display. Additionally, the School District intends to apply for exceptions to the Act 1 Index (this year at 2.1%). The Preliminary Budget will be considered for a vote on February 20, 2013 at the Board's regularly scheduled Voting Meeting.

At its February 20, 2013 meeting, the Board approved the Preliminary Budget for the 2013-2014 Fiscal Year and the filing for exceptions. The School District intends to apply for exceptions to the Act 1 Index (this year at 2.1%); that is not an indication that the Board will vote to use the exception(s). Review and updates of the budget will continue through the month of April until the Proposed Final Adoption is voted.

- The Board adopted the Final Budget for the 2013-2014 Fiscal Year by a 7-1 vote at the May 20, 2013 meeting. The millage rate for the 2013-14 year is 20.5048 mills. The PDE-2028 version of the Budget Document is posted here
