Who is Mr. Fake?
Hello everyone, I am Mr. Dan Fake and have the priveledge of teaching music in Spring Grove Area Middle School. I am a 1999 graduate of Spring Grove and spent many hours in the very classroom I now teach in.
Education
Following high school I attended Indiana University of PA (in the town of Indiana, Pa) majoring in music education. As a saxophone player, I was a part of the many bands and saxophone ensemble at IUP, as well as playing bass clarinet for in the wind ensemble 2 semesters. I graduated from IUP in 4 years after taking many summer credits. I am currently finishing my master of music education degree at Towson University in Towson, Md.
Experience
Following college, I substituted a 1/2 day at New Salem Elementary before accepting a full time position at Baltimore County Public schools. I began teaching at Southwest Academy near Catonsville, MD in January 2004. While at Southwest Academy I earned a peect attendance certificate for never missing school. I taught 6th grade choir and general music that first year and then moved to 6th, 7th, & 8th grade general music and also Orchestra. The experiences in Baltimore County were great, but city life was not for me. In August of 2005 I began teaching at SGMS and continue in the same capacity.
Outside of School
Beginning my teaching career in the Baltimore area and being a saxophone player I began marching with Baltimore's MArching Ravens in the spring of 2004. I love the marching activity and the people in the band are like a family. Because of this I have continued to be a part of the Ravens Band. You can find me with the band on game day of any Ravens' home game. I am also a big fan of local auto racing and spend many weekend evening at Williams Grove or Lincoln Speedway.
